Hong Kong and Macau believed COVID-19 will have significant impact on their economy and the impact is worse than SARS

  • Covid-19, health crisis has dramatically altered the behavior of millions of people in the short span of just a few weeks and will continue to shape politics, society and the economy for all of the foreseeable future
  • In Hong Kong, the outlook for 2020 is negative with 60% of the population believing that impact on the economy is significant and almost 50% believed that this is worse than SARS
  • Singapore feels a lot more optimistic with only 25% (one-quarter) of the population who feel that it will have negative impact on the economy and the same level (27%) who believes that it will be worse than SARS
